Gentlemen of the Road

What a weekend I had, it was so fun we actually extended it an extra day after all the driving. Turns out this pregnant lady can't handle standing for 9 hours, by the end of the night my lower back and hips were in so much pain thankfully flashing the belly a bit got me a seat and great view for the headlining band. I don't know how you ladies that are on your feet do it, I needed an entire day to recoup! 8 bands later and a giant bread bowl of vegan soup, a veggie burger and lots of water it was one fun music festival. Though I was a little bummed I couldn't get my groove on too much, I did leave with a handful of new to me bands I can't wait to hear more from... I think the surprise of the night was my like for Gogal Bordello and the crazy beats of The Very Best, you can't help but want to shake your hips.

The husband's backpack, we finally found a way to use up all those buttons we've been collecting. I think my favorite one is the Paper Snob.

Weekend fun

This weekend the husband and I are headed out to Monterey for the Gentleman of the Road tour and could not be more excited. I got the tickets months ago and when they showed up in the mailbox a few weeks ago it was an exciting reminder...don't you love when you buy yourself a present and completely forget about it? Hopefully I will be able to stand all day since its an outdoor festival and that they will have plenty for this pregnant lady to munch on. The line up is pretty exciting but I cannot wait to see Mumford and Sons as well as Grouplove. We saw Mumford last year and it was by far one of my favorite concerts, so much folky-ness, I mean, who doesn't love a banjo?

What I did last night

Last night I went to the Railroad Revival Tour with Old Crow Medicine Show, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Mumford and Sons in Oakland and let me tell you, I actually feel like a lucky one being able to have seen that show live.  While the lines were horrendous, it was totally worth the wait to see live folk music.  I had no idea you could rock out on a banjo!  As the sun set over San Francisco, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros  had the crowd swaying and singing along to Home, one of their most popular songs.  And then Mumford and Sons came on.  Holy moley, they are amazing.  I had no idea I was that big of a fan, but every song had me swaying, jumping and singing along, they even previewed a few new songs were absolutely wonderful.  After a long set, all three bands joined along in an encore that may have been the funnest thing to have ever watched... clearly the bands love what they do.

Hipster hump day, The Cave

So in case you haven't notice, I am a bit of a hipster.  Yeah yeah, I admit it, the husband is too.  Heck, even our dog is, she has a hot pink quilted jacket with a hood.  Anyway, over the last few days the husband and I have spent way too long on You tube and Pandora searching fun new indie bands and new to us sounds.  I had heard of Mumford and Sons a while ago when their hit Little Lion Man came out, and loved them.  Such a different sound.  And then I found their newer (yet somehow still old) single, The Cave.  Love it.

I just love how bands are starting to bring back interesting music videos.  I just wish we didn't have to search hours to find them!  Each Wednesday is becoming hipster hump day around here, and let me tell you, there are some fun videos out there.
