Virginia Johnson

I'm finally out of the just get everything out of boxes and off the floor mode and into the stylizing part of our move, and its become quite clear we need another option for our bedding.  I like to change things out with new seasons, it helps keep things fresh, and these colorful block printed sets from Virginia Johnson are just lovely.  Made from 100% cotton, each are handmade and no two look exactly alike.  I'm loving this bright yellow waffle print, it would look perfect in our new taupe-ish colored bedroom.

That's some design

Now I'm usually all for bold and bright colors, but this bedroom takes the cake on matchy matchy.  At first, the bright pink and white wall paper caught my eye and I thought, oh, that's fun.  Then I came to the mirror which led me to the bed.  And for a second, I didn't even notice the corresponding orange pillows, which go perfectly with the matching blanket.  What do you think about this space?  Love it?  Hate it?  Could you live in it?

Dreaming

Last week I focused on headboards, this week, the rest of the room.  From stark white spaces to over the top color and even a few built ins, when it comes to bedrooms, anything goes.  Seems I am drawn to the uber girly, super white and fluffy spaces... I can just see it now, the husband wading through pillows and ruffles.  Yeah right.  And then there is the whole dog on the bed thing.  Guess white would be a bad idea.  At least I can dream.

Now this is a built in.  Even though its surrounded by hard surfaces, the use of soft colors and textures make this space seem comfy and cozy.  Pillows are always our best friends.

There is something about the wallpaper, headboard and mirror that just draw me in.  Very ornate, very lovely.  I'm a sucker for anything tufted.

Love this headboard.  I can't tell if this is one solid piece or not, but you could also achieve this look with a set of ornate doors too.  

A cute way to display artwork and cards.  And the scalloped border trim makes for an interesting look.  I could see this fitting in perfectly in a child's room.  Although with the use of less contrasting colors, or even the same color with different paint finishes, it would be a fun touch to any adult room.

How fabulous is this!  I just want to crawl in and take a nap.

Changing it up

I don't know about you, but about every six months or so, I have to change up our place.  Sometimes its as simple as rearranging furniture with new accessories, other times its planting and maintaining an entire garden (if you have never had one, its serious work!). This time, its our bedroom.  When we first moved in, a whole 5 years ago, the husband and I agreed to have bold color and pattern in every inch of our place, except the bedroom.  Aside from a teal clock and bird wall hanging, its incredibly plain.  So when trying to figure out what to do for the weekend, we decided  to add a little interest to our white walls.

After stopping by Better Homes and Gardens, I am get excited to try something new for our room.  Perhaps we will do something inspired by their DIY cheap and chic headboard projects.  They have a wonderful collection of headboard ideas that you could make yourself in a few hours.
