Start your crafting engines

Today its all about crafting. Along with helping my lovely cousin pull together ideas and making things for her upcoming wedding, I decided to plan a small get together for my family for a gender reveal of the baby. The husband and I are finding out next week {!} if the baby will be a little man or little lady and thought it would be fun to get our close family members in on the guessing action. I'm making little paper flower broaches and bow ties for them to pick which team they are on...I have a feeling its a boy, the husband is still undecided. Its always fun to make a guess, but come next week we will finally know - assuming our little one isn't super shy. So off to the craft store I go for a few supplies, I mean, a girl can never have to much paper.

Birds of a feather

Talk about some serious patients and talent! These handmade birds pieced together by Colombian industrial design artist Diana Beltran Herrara and are simply mesmerizing. I love how she captured movement and expression in her pieces, truly one of a kind. You can find quite the flock over on her site, Pine, as well as super intricate tridimentional hand cut paper pieces.

DIY crafts

I was recently browsing Design Sponge's archives and came across this super easy and oh so good looking craft, I had a 'I need to do this' moment.  Paper wrapped pencils and lids are perfect for adding small touches to any desk, just think of all the corresponding capabilities.  I'm thinking a little crafting hour is in order, just need to find the perfect paper first.  And for those of you that have a ton of paper scraps like me, these are perfect to de-clutter your stash.

Girl of all work

Need something to jazz up your office?  Girl of all work has a fantastic line of paper goods that will keep your cubicles colorful and schedules on time.  I really need to pick me up one of the phone books, remember those?  Every time I loose my phone I panic, the only phone number I know by heart is my husbands and Mom's cell.  And for some reason, my cousin's house.  

You can find Girl of all work online, or if you live in California, odds are you are nearby a retailer.  I'm going to have to check out Urbanic, (my favorite place for all things paper) for these little guys.

Twitter, it can be your best friend or your worst nightmare assuming you are like me and can get 'sucked in' with all the links for hours!  Everyday I log on, find out what all my 'friends' are talking about and click all the wonderful links and inspiration.  Today a link brought me to the sad news, a lovely etsy & big cartel shop, Nice Package, is closing its doors tomorrow evening (3/23) at midnight.  Its so sad to find stores closing, especially ones that have so many great items!
