Dibs!

These San Francisco tiled cupcakes are pretty sweet don't you think? The image may be a little hard to decipher for those who don't get to wait forever at bus stops like me, but its pretty darn accurate. Made by Cups and cakes bakery for a San Francisco meet up, I left my heart in inner sunset.

Happy Weekend

Last night the husband and I had our Valentines dinner now that I am finally healthy enough.  After digging through cookbooks for a meal, we ended up on an interesting assortment.  From the Real Food Daily book, we made their Club sandwich, my favorite item on their menu, and paired it with a side of homemade macaroni and cheese.  Although my favorite part may have been dessert.

I whipped up a batch of coconut cupcakes that were amazing.  Seriously.  Amazing.  If you are looking for a perfect morsel, here it is folks.  I found the recipe over at Chef Chloe, a site filled with wonderful vegan tips, recipes and videos.  So treat yourself for the weekend and make some, they are super simple and so good you'll want to make it a double batch, trust me.

Cute as a button

So many things to get excited about over this 'cute as a button' themed dessert table, I just don't know where to start.  I suppose it caught my attention because of the Singer sewing table.  Its exactly like the one I will one day inherit that was my Grandmothers.  When I was little, I would hide little treasures inside the drawers only to find them years later untouched.

Anyway, back to those darn buttons.  Styled by Sugar and Spice specialty desserts and Botanica floral design, everything from the drinks to decor was thought of.  There is something so simplistic and fun about these buttons, the cupcakes are adorable.  And how about that pretty pink cake topper.  You can find even more delicious shots at Somewhere splendid.  This is a perfect set up for a summer party!

More sweets

Yesterday I decided to bake up batch of cupcakes, because apparently I didn't have enough sweets over the last week. Missing Native Foods like crazy, (seriously, one in Northern CA would be amazing) I pulled out Chef Tanya's Restaurant cookbook and tried out her recipe for Elephant Chocolate Cake.

I got about half way through the recipe before I realized I was short an ingredient.  So I made do and added a few touches here and there, turns out I really need to restock my baking pantry, Christmas wiped me out.  I ended up with delicious moist little cakes, even my meat eating parents liked them.  This recipe also comes with a peanut butter cinnamon topping, which I made, but for some reason, these taste better without it.  Looks like we are going to have fancy PB&J's this week. Oh darn.

A little pom makes everything funner

Sometimes all you need is a little color, and these poms from Potter and Butler are a perfect way to add a punch without going over the top.  And they don't stop at cupcake toppers, you can also find fun garlands and accessories.  These little guys are perfect for any occasion, birthdays, holidays, Thursdays....

Edible art

I spotted these edible creations over at cool hunting and just had to share with you.  Over the last few years I have been getting more and more into baking, and these would be a perfect addition to my arsenal of baking goodies.  Using edible icing in sheets, Ticings has created a fun way to add a little something to ordinary cupcakes, cookies and cakes.  Not only are they super easy to use, you just peel and stick, you can also get custom designs for those special occasions.  Plus, they can be used on homemade or store bought cupcakes, so if you're running low on time, no one will ever know!  And just in time, Ticings has come out with a fun collection for Halloween.

Designed treats

Seems over the last few years, I find myself saying if I would love to go into the baking business.  There is just something about creating a tiny morsel for others to enjoy that makes me grin ear to ear.  I suppose that is why I find myself drooling over decadent sites, and I sure wasn't let down over at I am baker.  Not only are the photos lovely, the recipes are super creative! I've never even thought to use zucchini in a cupcake, but now I'm going to try!
And how creative are these Facebook and Twitter cookies!  Its mixing every girls dream, a wedding announcement, cookies and gossip.
I think I am going to have to try these fondant cupcakes!  A few of these stacked upon my new dessert stand, yes, I think that will do.

One sweet bakery

Oh how I have a sweet tooth.  Always have.  And these images from Miette bakery in San Francisco literally got me drooling.  Located in the historical Ferry Building, Miette's creations are sure to be a hit for any party or, you know, Tuesday on the sofa.  You can purchase cookies and specialty items online, but the cakes and cupcakes are for pick up only.  Might have to pick one of these babies up next time I visit the parents.
The description of this green "Princess" cake is mind blowing. "In consists of genoise sponge cake moistened with Chambord, a layer of raspberry jam, pastry cream and whipped cream.  Rather than the traditional marzipan covering, we drape our cake in a white chocolate fondant."  Whoa.
