Delicate ceramics

One of my goals this year is to have more and more fresh florals around the house to lighten things up and these ceramic vessels from Romi Ceramics would make for a great tabletop addition. Though I have quite a few vases already you can never have too many, am I right? I love the shape and muted colors used, they are a bit on the modern side but throw in a few calla lilies and I bet they would take on a fantastically traditional look. Have you made any new years goals?

Lovely gifts

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, mine was filled with family, food and lots of laughter. Of course there are always the fun gifts that go along and this year my husband surprised me with that fantastically fancy humming bird pouring jar from Studio Gu. One of the perks of him traveling for work is the amazingly unique gifts and knowing my love of all things quirky and delicate he always picks the best objects to add to my growing collections. After I opened the gift he couldn't wait to show me the store he got it from and wow, how he didn't walk out spending hundreds of dollars is beyond me. Do is located in London and is a shop filled with a brilliant collection of home goods and accessories from a range of designers. I just love Studio Gu's collection don't you? Might have to get myself a few companion pieces!

Love me some owls

Lately I have had a thing for animal figurines, and these owls would make a lovely addition to my growing collection.  Although, I don't have any more space!  Seems owls are getting the lime light right now, with every home item adorning the adorable bird.  From towels to art to clocks and even rugs, you can find these wise guys come in every form, from lifelike to oh so cute, there is always something for everyone.  So with that in mind, I did a small round up of shops paying homage to the night time predator.

Atelier Oker

I love objects that are just slightly different from the norm, and these ceramic pieces from Atelier Oker are fantastically different yet completely functional for everyday life.  Handmade in Belgium, each piece is lovingly crafted by artist Jeannine, an industrial designer with a passion for creating.  Those spoons would sure make for a conversation starter at your next party.  You can find more at her shop or stop by Jeannine's blog for more information on her pieces.

A crafty DIY

Thanks to Pinterest, I came across this creative and seemingly simple DIY project over at Sodapop design.  Its written in German, and even with Google and a husband that is a little more than rusty on his German, I had to piece together the gist of it.  I had to look up what efaplast was, turns out its totally common and you can get it at most art stores.  So with a bit of molding clay, a doily, sand paper and acrylic paint, you got yourself a beauty for any tabletop.  Check out Caro's blog for the rest of the how to, I might just have to add this one to the 'someday' project list.  Am I the only one who has a million things I would love to make?

Beautiful dishware

I am just loving these delicate looking ceramics from artisan Molly Hatch out of VT.   Using fine ceramics and mixing in a detailed eye and a steady hand, Molly creates amazing artwork that is almost too beautiful to eat off of.  You can check out all of Molly's amazing work on here site and blog, and if you love her work like me, bookmark her etsy store for hopefully future sales of these gems.

Catherine Hammerton

If you have a love of all things pretty, then you are going to l-o-v-e these wallpapers and tabletop goodies from British designer Catherine Hammerton.  Combining soft colors and papers, Catherine has developed a wonderful collection of 3D wallpaper surly to make you swoon.  That scale paper is a lot like a project I have yet to finish on my wall using hundreds of cut out circles.  And if the 3D weren't enough, how amazing is the Collection Wall mural (3rd down),  an original art piece that has been photographed and scaled to size for a beautiful creation.  Love it!!  In addition to the walls, Catherine also offers a few select home pieces including those adorable plates and charming table cloths.

For the tabletop

There is nothing like a few ceramics pieces placed on tabletops to make a focal point, and these from graphic designer turned ceramist, Kim Westad are not only beautiful, but modern and practical.  These little vessels are perfect for organizing any workspace or a catch all for loose change and keys.  Who couldn't use a few by the front door?  I love that they are kept very simple on the outside and have that little pop of color.  Kim's designs are all hand made and have a slight whimsical touch, how fun is that whirling serving dish!  A wonderful take on the oh so awful chip and dip platters... Up in the air somewhere

Do you ever stumble upon a shop and love every single thing?  It just happened to me over at Up in the air somewhere. Handcrafted in Chicago by artist Susan Dwyer, each vessel is created using food safe materials as well as recycled and repurposed waterproof paper mache.  They are stunningly minimal but give a huge impact.  And that water tower has holes for use with a potted plant!

Joan Platt Pottery

I just love when there is a fun story behind companies, and Joan Platt not only has unique pottery, she has a wonderful way of how she got to her creations.  When Joan was around 40, she broke her shoulder and as part of her therapy, was told to wash dishes.  Every woman's dream right?  After a short time of washing every dish known to man, she enrolled in a pottery class, since it used the same muscles, and fell in love.  30 years later, she is still in love making wonderful items for tabletops.  I am so intrigued by her 'one of a kind' items, these candlestick vases are a little modern, but a whole lot of classic.  You can check out a few of her pieces available here.

Olaria Studio

How fabulous are these lovely ceramics from Olaria Studio out of Boston.  Hand crafted by artist Amy McClure and meaning simply, pottery in Portuguese, Olaria Studio has a wonderful assortment of delicate items for your home and neckline.  With inspiration from nature and femininity, its hard to pick which I love more, but this teal platter is gorgeous!  Throw a couple of red apples or yellow lemons and you have yourself a centerpiece.

Now that flowers are in full bloom, its only appropriate you have a few fun vases to go along.  Pretty Random Objects has a lovely collection of delicate items that will not only look good displaying flowers, but are fun to look at just by themselves.  Might need to grab one of these little guys for myself!

Looking for that perfect accessory for the table top or some fun lighting?  Then you have to check out Pigeon Toe Ceramics, a crafty studio on Oregon, is run by artist Lisa Jones and each piece is handmade by her and her small team of artisans.  I love that no two are exactly alike and Lisa has so many fun ideas.  Just check out that lighting!
