Growing your veggies

When I was in college I took a furniture making class and my dream project was to make a large coffee table with a center removable insert that you could plant a garden directly into along with a series of vases that you could actually see the growing process. When I came across this fun mini planter for root vegetables the ideas all came flooding back and the desire to design came back with a vengeance. This tabletop planter is perfect for little ones {and grown folks too} to see how things grow. There is just something about seeing the seeds take shape and transform into food right before your eyes. Nothing is funner then being able to pick your own food, I currently have 7 plots in a community garden just to get the fresh foods I desire...just yesterday I plucked a handful of mustard greens to saute up. Yum!

Who doesn't love a sale?

Its been a while since I've perused the West Elm site and boy are they having a great sale right now. You could restyle entire rooms with the amount of goodies on sale, below are a few of my favorites for around the home. With sales like these its hard to stop myself at virtual window shopping and just stuff my cart silly.

Magpie Fields

I've been trying my hardest to slow down on purchasing little odds and ends for the house...my ample storage space is getting smaller and smaller by the day it seems, but these vintage goodies from Magpie Fields are just so charming I might have to break my buying hold. I've always had my eye on keys of all sorts and those colored ones are calling my name. Owner Emily Whittenburg has built quite the collection while on her worldly travels, you can find more about her shopping trips and finds on her blog as well as keep up with all things vintage. Do you have any collections? I'm currently digging owls of all kinds and anything geometric seems to catch my eye.

Throw a party

I've been wanting to throw a little get together with friends for a while now and after seeing these fun decor pieces from Bhldn I'm really aching to plan something! Though this site caters to the wedding planning crowd, the decor pieces are not only good looking enough for everyday use, they are pretty wallet friendly. Its all in the details and you can find everything from hanging ornaments and candelabras to place cards and pin wheels, there are tons of fun party ideas.

Delicate ceramics

One of my goals this year is to have more and more fresh florals around the house to lighten things up and these ceramic vessels from Romi Ceramics would make for a great tabletop addition. Though I have quite a few vases already you can never have too many, am I right? I love the shape and muted colors used, they are a bit on the modern side but throw in a few calla lilies and I bet they would take on a fantastically traditional look. Have you made any new years goals?

Quick break for vases

Um, I think I might need one of these owl vases from Nood pronto!  These little guys would be a perfect accent on any table top, especially my nightstand...wink wink to the husband.  Although the last time I got something with an owl I got the comment, so how many are you going to get?  You ask me, there is always room for more decor.  Do you have any collections that you just adore?

Delicate wares

As of late I can't seem to get enough table top decor, there are so many ways to set things up having tons of decor accessories are a must in this house.  And these delicate and handmade vases from Sara Paloma pottery are a classic beauty. I saw Sara's booth at Renegade last weekend and just couldn't make a decision as to which one I wanted, although I seem to keep coming back to this charming bud vase.  Each piece is wheel thrown here in the bay area and no two are exactly alike.  And I love the fact that Sara was forced into pottery thanks to those darn required classes in college!  You can find Sara's portfolio filled with amazing pieces here and her shop here.

There is something about natural wood that really makes any table setting feel cozy, and these wooden bowls, mugs and cups are the perfect collection.  Available through Analogue Life, is a shop filled with wonderful products designed by different artists and brought to life in Japan.  I love them all, I wish I could find them somewhere local, shipping from Japan sure is costly.  Be sure to check out the entire line, its natural perfection.

Quick break for boxes

These charming animal boxes from Beklina are perfect for small accessories or display.  Each design represents a 'power' animal, a whale, polar bear and llama and are made from sustainable beech wood.  I just wish I could get them all!

Tabletop fun

I just discovered Scope, a Japaneese online shop filled with fun home decor, fashion and things you didn't even know you needed, till now.  How fun are these Mormor tabletop sets!?  Reminds me of graph paper, gone girly.  And then there are the Moomin figurines.  Totally fun, a cluster of these guys are sure to make any room brighter.  That little knitting one is just too much!

Love me some owls

Lately I have had a thing for animal figurines, and these owls would make a lovely addition to my growing collection.  Although, I don't have any more space!  Seems owls are getting the lime light right now, with every home item adorning the adorable bird.  From towels to art to clocks and even rugs, you can find these wise guys come in every form, from lifelike to oh so cute, there is always something for everyone.  So with that in mind, I did a small round up of shops paying homage to the night time predator.

Quick break for Spring

Sort of loving these wooden eggs from Miss Natalie.  Available in several different sizes, colors and patterns and just in time for Spring.  A group of these are a perfect addition for any vignette.  I love vignettes!
